How to Use Our Libraries

Who Can Use Our Libraries?

The following visitors can use our libraries, including Kyushu University alumni and non-public entity staff: those who need our library materials for academic research, investigation, or study. We do not allow visitors to use the seats just for resting and studying with your own book. In addition, we may give priority to Kyushu University students and restrict visitors' access to our libraries during Kyushu University's examination periods and other peak times.

Admittance

Some of the libraries require visitors to present his or her ID document(drivers licence, passport, health insurance card, etc.) at the circulation desk. 

For Further User-Privileges

For anyone who would like to have continuing library services, please register and make your library ID at the circulation desk.
You may borrow materials only from 

  • Central Library
  • Design Library
  • Chikushi Library
  • Scitech Library

Other libraries do NOT allow non-Kyushu University members to borrow library materials.
You can also register by mailing the completed register form.

NOTES
The Kyushu University Library offers library services to residents in Fukuoka community who are studying or researching academic area as well as faculty and students in higher education are seeking. Please describe your research area in the request form.

The user ID is valid for a year. You may renew your expiration date.(Applying by mailing is not accepted)
Let us know immediately when your address information is chaneged and your Library ID is lost.

Entering and Leaving

Present your ID card at the gate in the entrance.
[Patrons with disabilities]  Call our staff if you need help.

Go through the gate at the entrance. You do not need present your ID card when leaving.

When you leaving with our materials that are not checked out, the gate at entrance blocks your way with alarm bell and we inspect all belongings you are carrying with. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Rented CDs and DVDs
