  • Category : Private Collection
  • Contents Type : Japanese Books, Western Books
  • Subject : Education
This collection is based on one of the 13 sets of the "American Education Library (AEL)" donated to the Japanese government by the U.S. government in 1947. The purpose of the "American Education Library" was to subsidize the compilation of textbooks by private citizens and to contribute to the advancement and development of curricula and other school education issues. In 1948, NEL, Japanese textbooks and pedagogical books collected by the Ministry of Education, was added to the collection, and the name was changed from the "American Education Library" to the “Text-books & Curriculum Library". Thereafter, the collection was expanded through additional materials from the Ministry of Education and the University's own collection until around 1950~1960s.
