Manuscripts, books and other printed material related to medicine, pharmaceutics, herbology collected by professor emeritus Wolfgang Michel (Michel-Zaitsu), former dean of the Faculty of Languages and Cultures, Kyushu University. The collections comprises a considerable number of unique Japanese manuscripts related to Western medicine in 17th- and 18th-century Japan as well as rare early modern Western prints related to Japanese medicine. Parts of the collection are digitized.
